JC871.  Brochantite, gypsum.   Kansas mine, Aurum dist., White Pine County, Nevada.  6.4 cm x 11.3 cm.  174g.  $25.00  The brochantite occurs as a thin botryoidal coating on a partly altered matrix.  The gypsum occurs as bright transparent, thin crystals lying on the brochantite.  The gypsum is bright and sparkly.  These came out of a small, tight seam that graded into rosasite.  There is a little rosasite present as a light blue powdery looking material in the center of the specimen and on the edges.  One time find of about 10 years ago.

JC916.  Grandite (Grossular-andradite mix) quartz.  Alpine mine, Nightingale district, Pershing county, Nevada.  1 1/4" x 1 1/2"  24g.  $5.00.  Garnet is not quite as dark as shown.  These occur in a quartz zone sandwiched between the granitic country rock and limestone.  The closer to the limestone they are, the more grossular they are;  the closer to the granite contact, the darker they are, and the more andraditic they are.  All are a mix of the two in various proportions.

JC837.  Quartz (pale smoky with a distinct amethyst tint)  Marshal Canyon prospect, Osgood Mountains, Potosi Dist., Humboldt Co., Nevada.  2" x 3 1/2".  248g.  $100.  These are unusual crystals that are short and squatty, and attempt to be doubly terminated.  Next to the main crystal is a satellite crystal that shows this rather well.  A limited find of self-collected material.
